The second New Moon of 2021 is falling in the liberating sign of Aquarius making a total of six planets in the sign of the Water Bearer — wow — that’s a lot of Aquarian energy! Interestingly, this lunation is also the cause of the 2021 Chinese New Year celebration — the Year of the Ox. Known for diligence and dependability, Ox’s have a strong and determined nature. They are often stubborn and politically minded.

Chinese New Year and the Ox aside, Aquarius is the celestial sign that bestows the universal cosmic waters onto humankind and our planet. Although Aquarius is an air sign, it is known as The Water Bearer and this connection through the healing element of water symbolizes an ability for the celestial guardian to spread cosmic gifts of giving and restoring life to humanity.

As you may remember, the New Moon, is a time for renewed hope, rebirth of creativity, and a time to begin new projects. It is the best time of the month to assert positive affirmations, chants, and visualizations. It is an optimal time for hope and support for those seeking freedom. It grants courage, fortitude, and strength on our quest for liberation: spiritual, emotional, or mental.

Aquarius is the zodiac sign associated with revolutionary change. It seeks to restructure any outdated constructs in an effort to create a more just world for all. Aquarius dreams of a world where all people and sentient beings are honored and treated with respect for their unique contributions to the whole. It is the sign that seeks to improve conditions for all Earthly inhabitants by investing time and energy to mobilize large groups, affect politics, and utilize futuristic innovations to evoke transformation.

Along with the planets — Mercury, Venus, the Moon and Sun — Saturn is also in the sign of Aquarius. And, for the next several years, Aquarius’s ruling planet, Uranus, is transiting through Taurus — the sign that is associated with resources and security. These two planets (Saturn and Uranus) are currently creating a disruptive aspect that highlights radical change in both our personal lives and our collective political arenas. These much needed changes can bring about deep insecurities. However, if we embrace our impulses to grow, we will creatively manifest powerful shifts and a new sense of vitality.  

Therefore, this New Moon, which is in effect through Sunday, is a wonderful opportunity to take inventory of what you can do right now to create unprecedented change and transformation in your life:

– What are your hopes, wishes, and dreams?
– What is it that you need to discard so you can embrace these desires and
    manifest a new reality?
– How may you serve others using your unique talents to make the world a
   better place?
