Exhilaration, Passion, Illumination and Initiation:
July 22 – 26 Sun, Jupiter and Moon in Leo
WOW! This is going to be a powerful and fiery week as the Sun exits the emotional, watery realms of Cancer and joins Jupiter in the creative and action-oriented sign of the heart—Leo. During this powerfully charged astro-week you will want to consciously embrace each day as an opportunity to initiate expansion in all areas of your life. Following are the exact dates for the amazing aspects occurring this week along with a brief explanation of their Astrology significations.
The Sun enters Leo July 22 at 2:41 pm PDT – August 22:
The Sun’s illuminating rays bestow life; sacred wisdom through spiritual practice; and the ability to creatively actualize ourselves. The fiery sign of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun, is represented by the proud and powerful lion. A symbol of divine knowledge in many cultures, the lion is recognized from Europe to Africa as the power of the Shakti– divine energy. The Hindus, for example, believe that the Man-Lion, Vishnu has both the sovereignty and power of dharma (law) to destroy evil and ignorance.
The Sun’s ingress into its own ruling sign is especially important this year because it will magnify and support the auspicious wisdom and light of Jupiter in Leo, which I am calling “Heart Wisdom.” Leo is the sign associated with the heart and self-love. It is the sign that encourages creative self-expression. The fire of the leonine Sun ignites passion, inspiration and the ability to single-mindedly focus on one’s goals. Leo also represents children and romance, marking a time to evaluate whether or not we are nurturing our inner child and creating romantic moments of honoring and loving the self. Physically, Leo rules the heart and most lions have tender hearts that need personal nurturing. If ignored, their heart may seek attention by developing a physical condition. When balanced and healthy, the lion is a strong leader, courageous, regal and proud.
The Sun joins Jupiter on July 24 at 1:36 pm – July 26:
Benefic Jupiter moved into Leo on July 16 where it will remain through August of 2015. Jupiter takes us beyond our time-space reality and will inspire you to think outside your current self-imposed structures. While Jupiter is in the sign of Leo you will be motivated to follow your heart and embrace your personal authenticity. The movement of Jupiter and the Sun into fiery Leo is a welcomed shift from the intensity of the watery Cardinal Grand Cross of the last several months. This shift will be followed by Saturn’s movement into the fire sign of Sagittarius at the end of 2014, which will create a benefic Grand Fire Trine aspect with Uranus in the fire sign of Aries. (I will write more on this aspect later.)
The Leo New Moon occurs on July 26 at 2:41 pm PDT:
This New Moon is very auspicious because it is joining Jupiter. It is a wonderful time to implement fresh new beginnings in any area of your life needing attention. This is the best time to plant positive thoughts in the subconscious mind with affirmations, auspicious chants, and visualizations. This New Moon, along with Jupiter, is bringing a special gift of energetic wisdom. Because the heart is ruled by Leo it is important during this Leo New Moon to set intentions that honor your heart’s desires. This is important for all of us, but especially important for Leos, who can actually develop physical heart ailments when they do not follow their hearts and learn self-love.
Spiritual masters who have obtained enlightenment, such as Sri Yogananda, tell us, “God is center everywhere, circumference nowhere.” The essence of your creative light and the ability to love yourself and others exists within the center of your heart. Invoke the wisdom of Jupiter and the solar energies of this leonine New Moon to guide you into your center, your heart, to further your own process of awakening.

There is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the light that shines in your heart.
~ Chandogya Upanishad
For the past year, Jupiter has traveled through the sign of Cancer and contributed to the intensity of the Astrological Cardinal Grand Cross which has usher in a sense of urgency for much needed change in practically every area of our individual and collective lives. By itself, Jupiter’s transit through the sign of Cancer was a beautiful time to focus on expanding your awareness around security-related dynamics and developing your emotional intelligence. You may also recall that I indicated this would be a perfect time to awaken to the truth of emotional and family related dynamics that required your attention—and perhaps healing—so you could create the change that would allow you to step more fully into your personal authenticity.
Now that you’ve just spent an entire year learning Cancerian emotional intelligence, you can gladly embrace Leo and activate the true power of heart intelligence. This next year will be an optimal time to focus on opening your heart so you can consciously receive and give love. With Jupiter’s influence it will also be a great year to go outside under the Sun—ruled by Leo, and create fun Jupitarian explorations. Express your creative side and anticipate exciting new adventures that will produce laughter, romance and joy in your life. Spend time with children and intend to learn from the children you encounter because a child still holds the true intelligence of the heart.
Because Leo is the sign that rules both the heart and children, this will be an opportune year for you to embrace the childlike wisdom that resides within your own heart and let it guide you to greater happiness.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

Pre-shadow period begins May 22 thru Jun 7
Retrograde begins at 4:57 am on June 8 (3° and 07′ Cancer)
Moves into ruling sign of Gemini on Jun 17
Turns direct at 5:50 am on July 1 (24° of and 22′ Gemini)
Completes post-shadow period from July 1 to July 15
Take special note of this Mercury retrograde because it closely aligns with the October Eclipses. As it begins its retrogration at 2 degrees of Scorpio it will make it’s second pass over the Solar Eclipse point of O degrees Scorpio and then over the Lunar Eclipse point of 15 degrees Libra before turning direct again at 16 degrees of Libra and once again passing over the 0 degree Scorpio point for the third time, wow!
What does all this mean exactly? To summarize, it will be an opportune time to look at our relationship to self and others as well as embracing opportunities of transformation so we can initiate and live healthy and authentic lives.
In general, Mercury is the planet that astrologically represents travel, communication and our thought processes. Known as the Messenger of the Gods, Mercury’s role is to speedily deliver clear and precise information. Retrograding 3-4 times a year, when the planetary trickster strikes, many of our daily activities go haywire.
Mercury also rules electronics and is often blamed for all types of technical mishaps with cell phones, electric devices and computers, warranting an important time to backup your computer files. In general terms, machines of all kinds tend to act strangely and take on a Murphy’s Law theme.
Remain flexible and prepare for delays and miscommunications of all kinds. It is best to avoid signing any contractual agreements as matters begun during Mercury retrograde periods tend to take unexpected twists and turns in the future. During Mercury retrograde periods we often find ourselves revisiting past projects or situations that once again need our attention. It is also a time period, however, when we often hear from or feel compelled to reach out to old friends or lovers whom we haven’t spoken to in some time.
Although Mercury retrograde periods may seem frustrating at times, they provide opportunities to review or finish up old projects, contact old friends or clean out the closet and garage. It’s an opportune time for introspection and deep thought.
This Mercury Retrograde along with the powerful October Eclipses are emphasizing new beginnings with a focus on personal transformation and authentic relationship to self and others.

Gemini New Moon
07 degrees and 21 minutes
Wednesday, May 28th at 11:29 a.m. PT
This month’s New Moon is in Gemini, the versatile sign of duality. A New Moon occurs in the first phase of the 28-day lunation cycle. During this phase, New Moons are often called Dark Moons because they are not visible to the naked eye. The darkness of a New Moon represents a symbolic time to plant seeds of intention for new beginnings in your life. Take time today and ceremonially set intentions for future growth that can sprout when the Sun’s light is once again reflected in the lunation cycle.
With this New Moon’s focus on youthful, flexible and communicative Gemini, it is important to pay attention to your thoughts and how you are expressing yourself. Wayne Dyer’s quote, “change the way you look at things and watch the things around you change” is especially poignant.
Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini is at the critical 29 degree point during this lunation. As you may recall, a planet at 29 degrees emphasizes the ending of a cycle. As the Moon also represents cycles, this New Moon will be a great time to initiate endings and explore new prospects. Mercury is swift and sometimes instantaneous so intend with youthful Gemini folly and be prepared for quick results.

The Cardinal Cross Climax
April 21-24
What’s Katniss Eberdine and Jake Sulley Got to do With it?
Many are asking me questions about the Astrological planetary Cardinal Cross Climax. What is it and what does it mean? Cardinal Crosses occur when the outer planets move into Cardinal signs and have reached aspects that are traditionally representative of great movement and change on a global scale. These planetary aspects shake things up politically and economically, thereby affecting each of us personally.
Whether you are familiar with the term “Cardinal Climax” or not, you are likely feeling it, and know intuitively that change is occurring on many deep levels. Our beautiful mother, Gaia is going through a massive metamorphosis during our lifetime, reflecting unprecedented earth changes and events. For many, there is a sense of doom and loss of hope. Simultaneously, for many others, there is anticipated enthusiasm for regeneration and renewal. Researchers and present day spiritual leaders are persistently presenting us with ancient and modern day evidence that implies we are undergoing a “great human awakening”.
Before we delve more deeply into the meaning of the “Cardinal Cross” a couple of definitions may be helpful. Let’s begin with an understanding of Cardinal signs. Ancient Astrologers considered the Cardinal signs to be the movable signs associated with the changing of the seasons when the Sun made its journey into Aries (Spring Equinox), Cancer (Summer Solstice), Libra (Fall Equinox) and Capricorn (Winter Solstice). A planetary Cardinal Cross occurs in the heavens when the slower moving planets occupy the different Cardinal signs.
The Cardinal Cross aspect was activated on March 2, 2014 when Mars moved into Libra and began making a challenging aspect to Uranus in Aires, Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Cancer. This Cardinal conflict of cosmic energy is expected to be very intense for not just a few, but all of humanity. This intensity does not mean doom or gloom, but is an indicator of the imperative changes needing to occur on a collective level. That said, you may have surmised by now that this Cardinal celestial signature will have a more direct and personal affect on those with Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn planets in their horoscopes.Cardinal people can be dynamic leaders with a strong sense of purpose or destiny and are not afraid to try new things. There are many wonderful gifts that our Cardinal sisters and brothers offer us and this will be the time to take notice.
Taking notice is something you will not be able to avoid, as it is likely you will continue to witness battles of will during this period. We are also witnessing intense changes on an economic level globally; in fact, the last time there was a similar Cardinal Cross aspect was during the U.S.Great Depression of 1929-33. When any system collapses, it can provide an opportunity for those affected to bring about justice and a sense of order and balance out of chaos.
It is up to each of us during these unprecedented times to take responsibility to restore balance and harmony where we can. Many of you may have heard that sequels to the movie Avatar are in the making. Considered by critics to be a huge risk, Avatar instead broke numerous records as the highest grossing film ever produced. What is its appeal and why is it so wildly popular? Movies tend to reflect our current state of mass consciousness and the title “Avatar” itself is an obvious collective message. An avatar, according to Eastern spiritual teachings, is a teacher who comes to earth to restore dharma, to balance good versus evil. Similarly, the protagonists, Jake Sulley, and Katniss Everdeen of the Hunger Games, listened to their hearts and chose the pursuit of justice. Films like these are good examples of our current culture’s integration of the Cardinal Cross energy.
Justice can only be pursued by following our hearts and not our heads, and through honoring the ancient wisdom that all life forms sustain each other in one harmonious, unified energy field. This is an especially important time to focus on solutions, remain optimistic and continue to cultivate love and compassion for all sentient beings.
Change is an inside job, therefore…
“Be the change that you want to see in the world.”
Mohandas Gandhi
