“Enlightenment is not imagining figures of light but making the darkness conscious.” ~ Carl Jung
Early Wednesday morning will herald the final Eclipse of 2012. The Moon will be near the zenith for observers in Alaska, Hawaii, Western Canada/U.S. and Australia. This Appulse Lunar Eclipse is the second of this month’s supercharged Eclipse duos occurring in the zodiac sign of Gemini on November 28. The first—a Total Solar Eclipse—occurred on November 13, in the powerful and transformational sign of Scorpio. An Appluse Eclipse is also known as a Prenumbral Eclipse because the Moon moves through the Earth’s penumbra creating a light grey shadowing effect.
Endings and powerful transformations are especially emphasized under this Eclipse duo as we await the long anticipated ending of our solar system’s 26,000 year cycle and alignment with the center of our Milky Way Galaxy on 12.21.12. This duo is occurring just prior to the ending of this historic period. It also highlights the ending of a 5,125 year cycle that the Mayan people refer to as the Solar Cosmic Age of Earth Changes—the breaking up of old patterns. As our solar system begins its next 26,000 year cycle on the December 21 Winter Solstice, we will move into a period known by the Mayan as The Sun of Flowering—The Evolution of the Human Species.
While on the precipice of this momentous Shift of the Ages these Eclipses will act in a particularly potent manner propelling us to embrace change. Eclipses work on three levels: personal, collective and ultimately, the integration of both. Where there is inner uncertainty, an Eclipse will encourage you to seek clarity. Pay close attention to the revelations occurring in your life as what was previously hidden gives way to the light.
This is a time to initiate endings and explore new prospects. This will be true for all of us, but especially for those who have Gemini or Sagittarius planets in their horoscope because these are the two zodiac signs in which this Eclipse falls. It is also important because it portrays a very potent “finger of god” aspect that signifies humanity is at a critical crossroads. Unresolved economic, social and political issues in need of radical change, as well as the need for transformation of individual and collective negative fear based thought patterns will be emphasized.
Mercury is the ruling planet of Gemini and currently in its shadow period after a three-week retrograde cycle in the sign of Scorpio, the sign most connected with deep and often intense transformation that always occurs prior to the ending of an old cycle and the beginning of a new. The Mercury Rx shadow period is symbolic of continued resolution of past dynamics. Therefore, you can expect an intensity of Scorpio matters to dominate this eclipse: personal power themes, security, possessions, other people’s money, passion, sexuality and deep internal transformations. As a water sign, Scorpio represents our emotional realm, and most specifically our subconscious or the underworld.
If you are finding yourself immersed in an underworld of
internal struggles, or just needing to transform an important
area of your life, this Lunar Eclipse is the time to ask for
assistance in making the changes you desire.
The energies of an Eclipse can be felt in the days before and after an Eclipse. The ancient sages believed that Eclipses were a time for meditation and learning; a special time to honor the spiritual aspects of your life. Try to keep your schedule light, remain internally focused, eat only pure foods, and do not consume alcohol. The veil between earth and the heavens is thinner during an Eclipse, allowing
you to more easily connect to the eternal universal wisdom that is your divine essence.
