“To be a spiritual warrior means to develop a special kind of courage, one that is innately intelligent, gentle, and fearless. Spiritual warriors can still be frightened, but even so they are courageous enough to taste suffering, to relate clearly to their fundamental fear, and to draw out without evasion the lessons from difficulties.” — Sogyal Rinpoche
As we find ourselves once again grief stricken by the unending violence that continues to plague the era we live in, it is important to take the time to generate as much inner peace and love for ourselves and others as possible. As Carolyn Myss recently and so aptly said, “we are suffering a soul sickness — perhaps a soul shock or soul numbness.” In order for us to heal and change the world we must start by healing and changing ourselves. Thankfully, so many of us are doing just that! We are embracing our individual healing, while simultaneously seeking to understand the importance of this cosmic cycle of time we are currently living.
The study of Astrology and the planetary cycles offers an amazing opportunity to realize the evolutionary purpose or spiritual destiny of our lives within the collective. Astrology promotes an ability to see beyond the veil, allowing us to release judgments, opinions, and criticisms of others because we learn to understand — at the deepest level of our being — that everyone around us is on a unique and individual evolutionary journey that is distinctively intertwined with our own. The integration of this knowledge frees us to turn the lens inward to focus on our own personal destiny for the betterment of ourselves and the whole.
Full Moons occur when the Moon moves into an opposition to and reflects the light of the Sun. In this case, the Full Moon in Aries is reflecting the light of the Sun in Libra — the sign that strives for harmony and equality within relationship. Aries is the sign associated with the self and our deep instinctual need to express our individual uniqueness. The dance of light between these two signs calls our attention to our personal landscape (inner; Aries) thereby illuminating our interpersonal imbalances (outer; Libra).
Being the first sign of the zodiac, Aries is known for its independent, impulsive, and strategizing warrior nature. It thrives when it is initiating brand new cycles of adventure and self-discovery and can become easily enraged when its unfulfilled desires or innate need for freedom are thwarted. This Full Moon is encouraging us to look at where we need to create freedom, liberation, and therefore, regenerative change within our lives.
Transformation is in the air and the energy can feel deeply foreboding as all living beings are in the process of a complete metamorphosis. Pluto, the God of the Underworld, is challenging this Full Moon. Representing the transformative process of death and rebirth, Pluto signifies our deeply buried emotions. Like a volcano, Plutonian emotions can suddenly erupt with a fierce force and take us totally by surprise. Therefore, this Full Moon may find us feeling more sensitive than usual, and easily triggered. It is especially important to consciously observe our emotions. In so doing, we can better control our responses and empower ourselves to respond harmoniously instead of generating negative consequences by overreacting.
