The New Moon lunar phase is a wonderful time to implement fresh new beginnings in any area of your life needing attention. Every New Moon brings a special gift of energetic wisdom based on the zodiac constellation in which it occurs.
In the sign of Virgo, this New Moon will encourage you to become more organized and meticulous with the details of your life. Use Virgo’s talent for analytical thinking and discrimination to generate new ventures that align with your desires. These qualities are especially helpful if you want to enhance or change your daily work routine.
The purification and integration of body, mind and spirit is Virgo’s most important domain. Pay special attention to your nutritional requirements, thought processes and spiritual needs. If any one of these essential areas is out of balance in your life, now is the time to set goals for improvement.
Mercury is retrograde in Virgo during this New Moon phase adding a special emphasis to your thoughts and communications. Try not to belabor the details, over-analyze, or become too critical, especially of yourself. Once Mercury turns direct on September 12th life will begin to flow more easily.

Aphrodite’s planet Venus passes through the constellation of Scorpio every year. This year is particulary important however, because Venus will turn retrograde while transiting the sign most recognized for deep internal transformation. Venus turns retrograde approximately every eighteen months and last retrograded in Scorpio during October of 2002. Astrologically speaking, this is a really big deal!
Most of you are already familiar with Mercury retrograde phases, but did you know that all the planets, except the Sun and Moon, turn retrograde at different times? On Friday, October 8th, Venus turns retrograde at thirteen degrees of Scorpio until November 17, 2010, when she will once again resume her direct motion at 27 degrees of Libra. The effects of this Venus retrograde period will be felt until December 20th, when Venus returns to the degree in which she first went retrograde; Astrologers refer to this time between November 17th and December 20th as the “shadow period”.
When Venus retrogrades she will be transiting somewhere in your natal horoscope. This portends a significant time period in which to reexamine and reflect on what is truly of value in your life. Dynamics and circumstances that are no longer serving your personal values will rise to your awareness. This occurs so you can become aware of new value associations that will allow you to move forward.
Balanced relationships and partnerships of all kinds are ruled by Venus. Unfortunately, it is rare to find ourselves in a truly balanced partnership. If this is the case for you, Venus retrograde will encourage you to reflect on the needed changes that will evolve your relationship into a stronger state of equality.
Because Venus is transiting retrograde in the constellation of Scorpio you may re-experience old issues that you thought were already worked through or left behind. This is a time in which unresolved karmic issues with partners can suddenly appear, or old friends or lovers find their way back into your life. Conversely, this can also be a time when you meet someone for the first time whom you’ve had a past life connection with.
The Venus retrograde cycle is an excellent time to complete relationship dynamics that are no longer serving you. This is also an important time to evaluate your personal values and begin to prepare for the changes that will put you into alignment with your true destiny.

The Planetary Time Indicator of Change
The planet Saturn begins its journey through your Astrological horoscope at the moment of your birth. Its complete cycle through the zodiac and the houses of your Astrological chart takes roughly 29 years. The Saturn Return occurs when Saturn passes through the sign it was in at the time of your birth. The Saturn Return is in effect for approximately two-and-a-half years and will occur twice in your life, typically around age 28-30 and again at 58-60. If you were born during 1980 – 1983 or 1951 – 1953 you were born with Saturn in Libra and are currently experiencing your first or second Saturn Return.
This is a very special Saturn Return for those with Saturn in Libra as it is igniting the Cardinal Cross Climax that I have written of in previous Astro-Grams. The Cardinal Cross is emphasizing a time of both great and necessary change, making this Saturn Return even more powerful than usual.
When Saturn returns to its natal position in your chart you will undergo one of the most intense maturation periods of your life. In general, Saturn Returns are precursors to strong and sometimes painful yearnings for change. During this period of time you will be divinely guided to relinquish anything in your life that does not support your future life goals and purpose. You may find yourself feeling compelled to prioritize your objectives and activities so you can make the best use of your abilities for the next 29.5 years.
This can be a very stressful and trying time because the security of the past is familiar and safe, whereas the future is still unformed and therefore uncertain. Among many things, Saturn represents karma, responsibility and accountability. This will be a critical time requiring you to act with extreme integrity.
The Saturn Return brings about endings and new beginnings. The universe will unveil unhealthy and incongruent living and working conditions that can no longer be tolerated. This recognition can bring about enormous change, which may at times feel completely out of your control.
If you resist your personal nature and desires during your Saturn Return, the next 29.5 years could bring much suffering. If you willingly embrace Saturn’s courageous force, the transformation you make during this period can bring long term stability and future security.

Astrologically, the light of a Full Moon illuminates the area of our life symbolized by the zodiacal sign in which it falls. Affecting our emotional nature, and the deep watery realms of the subconscious, the charged energies of this Pisces Full Moon will attempt to awaken the dormant nature of our unconscious.
Pisces is the sign representing union – the unending quest of humankind to merge with divine. This Piscean search for union can permeate our dreaming and waking reality. When the Moon falls in the constellation of Pisces our waking world can become dreamy and surreal. The veils between the earthly and spirit realms become very thin, creating a desire to dream our reality into being.
Full Moons always occur when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun. The Sun will be in Virgo during this Full Moon emphasizing the Piscean-Virgo theme of healing. The Moon is also closely aligned with its ruling planet Neptune, as well as Chiron – the two planets associated with crises and healing. This close alignment to Neptune and Chiron can create emotional sensitivity to our own feelings of suffering as well as the plight and suffering of humankind. It is an especially opportunistic time to acknowledge and honor those areas in your life that are in need of healing and forgiveness.
Virgo’s ruling planet Mercury is retrograde during this Full Moon providing an opportunity to revisit the unresolved areas of our past. Mercury is the planet that rules our thought processes and while retrograde in Virgo, Mercury has the potential to cause mental stress and anxiety. We may find it challenging to stay focused on the present and find ourselves dwelling on past issues, and or, worrying about the future.
Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac and therefore represents culmination in one or more areas of our life. With Saturn currently in Libra and in aspect to this Full Moon, we may find ourselves wanting to culminate that which is no longer in balance within our close relationships. This does not mean our relationships have to end, rather a culmination of the imbalance needs to occur, allowing the relationship to mature into a healthier dynamic.
Lastly, this Full Moon falls in the Astrological eleventh house representing hopes, wishes and dreams. What hopes, wishes and dreams do you wish to cultivate? This is a beneficial time to seek inner guidance and set intentions for your future. The luminous Pisces Full Moon is a great time to invoke insight through meditation, ceremony, dream symbolism, and your personal intuition.

Mercury is the planet that astrologically represents travel, communication and our thought processes. Known as the Messenger of the Gods – Mercury’s role is to speedily deliver clear and precise information. In retrograde motion, the planetary trickster strikes and many of our daily activities go haywire.
Retrograding 3-4 times a year, we often experience travel delays and miscommunications of all kinds. It is best to avoid signing contractual agreements of any kind as matters begun during Mercury retrograde tend to take unexpected twists and turns in the future.
Mercury also rules electronics and is often blamed for all types of computer mishaps, warranting an important time to backup your computer files. In general terms, machines of all kinds tend to act strangely and take on a Murphy’s Law theme.
During Mercury retrograde periods we often find ourselves revisiting past projects or situations that once again need our attention. This time can also find us connecting with old friends and lovers that we haven’t seen in a long time.
Because Mercury retrogrades in Virgo you may find yourself working and analyzing more than usual; be careful that you don’t create mental, and or, physical exhaustion. You might also be reminded of past resolutions to eat healthier, and therefore encouraged to take better care of yourself. Pets are also ruled by Virgo and may need more attention than normal during this retrograde phase.
Although Mercury retrograde periods may seem frustrating at times, they provide opportunities to review or finish up old projects, contact old friends, or clean out the closet and garage. It’s an opportune time for introspection and deep thought.

This month’s New Moon falls in the royal sign of Leo. Leo is the fiery sign that is associated with the proud, majestic lion and the heat of the summer Sun.
A New Moon occurs at the beginning of every 28-day lunar cycle when the Moon joins the Sun in one of the twelve zodiacal signs. As the start of a new cycle, a New Moon is always a symbolic time to evaluate your life goals and set new intentions in the areas of your life associated with the zodiacal sign in which the New Moon is occurring.
The zodiacal sign of Leo is the sign that encourages creative self-expression. The fire of the leonine Sun ignites passion, inspiration and the ability to single-mindedly focus on one’s goals. Leo also represents children and romance, marking a time to evaluate whether or not we are nurturing our inner child, and creating romantic moments of honoring and loving the self.
As the heart is ruled by Leo it is important during this New Moon to set intentions that honor your heart’s desires. This is important for all of us, but especially important for Leos, who can actually develop physical heart ailments when they do not follow their hearts. Spiritual masters who have obtained enlightenment, such as Sri Yogananda, tell us, “God is center everywhere, circumference nowhere.” The essence of your creative light and the ability to love yourself and others exists within the center of your heart. Find the center of your heart during this New Moon and honor your unique and special gifts. This Leo New Moon is reminding us of the many spiritual teachings emphasizing the need to move away from fear and into loving relationship with self, others and our planet.
In many ancient cultures the Sun is worshipped as the giver of life and the source of light – spiritual wisdom. In fact, the Mayans tell us that the Sun’s movement into the center of our Milky Way during “2012” will ignite a mass spiritual awakening for mankind and a spiritual rebirth for our planet. Invoke the solar energies of this leonine New Moon to guide you into your center, your heart, to further your own process of awakening.
Leo New Moon Key Words: Solar Light, Create, Inner Child, Self Love,
We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars…
the stars form a circle, and in the center we dance.
