Saturn will once again enter Libra on July 21, 2010 through October 5, 2012
Astrologically, Saturn is often referred to as “The Lord of Karma” or “The Great Malefic” and sometimes “The Task Master,” all of which can provoke feelings of pessimism and negativity. Rarely are Saturn’s countless hidden gifts emphasized upon first contemplating this great planet’s Astrological significations.
Saturn is the planet that represents structure, social-political systems and authority, as well as the awareness of time and karma. He is the harbinger of the blatant recognition of a long standing way of life that is no longer serving us. With Saturn’s ingress into Libra we will find ourselves investing time to restructure the area of our lives reflected by the zodiacal sign of Libra. Astrologically, Libra represents partnership, equality, beauty, the arts, harmony and balance. Saturn will bring awareness and a need for dynamic change – individually as well as collectively – to any of these Libran qualities that are in discord.
Saturn represents societal structures and governments, and while in Libra he will encourage each of us to demand fairness and justice within our political systems. On a more personal level, each one of us will be questioning our partnerships and close relationships. This is especially true for Libras because Saturn will transit directly over your Sun. If you are between the ages of 28-30 or 58-60 you are experiencing or about to experience your Saturn return, a major maturation and turning point in life.
As Saturn makes its passage through Libra, it will activate the Cardinal Cross and simultaneously highlight the U.S. Astrological chart which will undergo its own Saturn return in Libra. These two important Astrological significations will point to collective and personal lessons of responsibility and right relationship with one another and our planet. These dynamics are heralding a wake-up call of change; a change in our attitudes, our attachments and our lifestyles. Universally we are quickly approaching the “2012” climax and the end of the Mayan Calendar, referred to by Mayan Elders as the “Shift of the Ages.”
Mindful awareness is required at the onset of a significant Saturn transit and we are encouraged to use integrity in all our dealings throughout its duration. The Saturnian journey often leads us into solemn periods of reflection where we may find ourselves feeling dejected, disillusioned and thwarted to move into the future we desire. Simultaneously, Saturn can promote new career heights, responsibilites and leadership recognition. If we consciously embrace Saturn’s wise teachings we can emerge with unexpected treasures and pearls of wisdom.
Saturnian transits and aspects bring us to a crossroads and provide opportunities to hasten our evolution. They usher in a profound time period, which if embraced, can ultimately bring great wisdom, a deeper meaning to life and awareness of self, maturation, humility and freedom by releasing that which no longer serves us.

Nineteen Degrees – Fifteen Minutes of Cancer
Visible in South Pacific, Easter Island, Southern Chile & Argentina
In my most recent Astro-gram I wrote about the pair of Eclipses occurring this summer. The first, a Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn occurred on June 26th, and the second, a Solar Eclipse, will occur in Cancer on Sunday, July 11th. A Solar Eclipse can only occur during a New Moon when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun casting a shadow upon the Earth. The next total Solar Eclipse is not due to occur until November 13th, 2012.
Disruptions in the earth’s magnetic field occur during Eclipses. Therefore, regardless of where an Eclipse is visible, its influence can be felt by all of earth’s inhabitants. Because this Eclipse occurs in Cancer, those with Cancer Suns or Cancer planets in their horoscopes will feel its affects more intensely. You may recall that Cancer is a Cardinal sign, and this pair of Eclipses is especially important because they emphasize the Cardinal Cross. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer cultivates maternal and nurturing instincts with an emphasis on home, family, heritage, and country. The Moon governs large crowds, the public, women, liquids, ocean tides and bodies of water in general.

Astrologically, New Moons represent new beginnings. When a New Moon is highlighted by an Eclipse it acts in a particularly potent manner propelling us to embrace change. Eclipses work on three levels: personal, collective and ultimately, the integration of both. Where there is inner uncertainty, an Eclipse will encourage you to seek clarity. Eclipses create a temporary shadow eventually unveiling something previously hidden. Therefore, pay close attention to the revelations occurring in your life during this Eclipse.
Domestic priorities become a universal focal point under a Cancer Solar Eclipse. While keeping in mind that Eclipses occur on a global scale, the U.S. Astrological chart shows us that the U.S. is a Cancer country and this Eclipse falls at the Sun/Mercury midpoint in the U.S, chart. This means that the Cancer Eclipse is emphasizing the U.S. Cancer Sun and the planet Mercury which speaks to financial resources and security dynamics in our country. Amidst an ongoing shaky global economy, current reports indicate the 2010 U.S. housing industry is still depressed with no signs of recovery anytime soon. Additionally the fixed star Castor is exactly conjoining this Solar Eclipse and symbolizes, among many things, foreign affairs and discrace. Why do I mention this? Because it relates to the overall security of our country, which in turn, can affect our personal security.
The Gulf tragedy escalated under this current pair of Eclipses. We know that the water ways of Gaia have been jeopardized for decades and that all life forms need pure clean water to thrive. There is grave concern about how much more toxicity our oceans and water sources can endure. The shock and horror of the insurmountable and accumulating disaster in the Gulf is a wake up call for each of us to remove our heads from the proverbial sand.
Although not necessarily related to the Gulf, during this pivotal time in our history, hundreds of thousands of people worldwide are creating and joining environmental justice organizations and gathering in groups for prayer and ceremony to intend world peace and planetary healing. We only feel helpless and hopeless when we believe we are disempowered to make a difference. This current total Solar Eclipse is occurring during an important evolutionary transition for mankind and our planet. The message is loud and clear – we must protect the mother that provides for us. We are being called to embrace sustainable forms of living that do not harm Her or any of Her inhabitants before it is too late!

Saturday, June 12th at 4:14 a.m. PT
This month’s New Moon is in Gemini, the versatile sign of duality. A New Moon occurs in the first phase of the 28-day lunation cycle. During this phase, New Moons are often called Dark Moons because they are not visible to the naked eye. The darkness of a New Moon represents a symbolic time to plant seeds of intention for new beginnings in your life. Take time today and ceremonially set intentions for future growth that can sprout when the Sun’s light is once again reflected in the lunation cycle.
With this New Moon’s focus on yourthful, flexible and communicative Gemini, it is important to pay attention to your thoughts and how you are expressing yourself. Wayne Dyer’s quote, “change the way you look at things and watch the things around you begin to change” is especially poignant under this New Moon.
Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini is currently in a challenging aspect to Mars. This aspect began a few days ago and will end shortly after the New Moon. Mercury is swift and Mars represents action, while in a challenging aspect to one another, you may experience frustrating delays and communication breakdowns. Saturn, the planet of restriction, is also making a difficult aspect to the New Moon conjunction. What does all this mean? Communicate with as much clarity as possilbe, and then, if necessary, do your best to practice the Gemini art of flexibility.

The Planetary Time Indicator of Change
The planet Saturn begins its journey through your Astrological horoscope at the moment of your birth. Its complete cycle through the zodiac and the houses of your Astrological chart takes roughly 29 years. The Saturn Return occurs when Saturn passes through the sign it was in at the time of your birth. The Saturn Return is in effect for approximately two-and-a-half years and will occur twice in your life, typically around age 28-30 and again at 58-60. If you were born during 1980 – 1983 or 1951 – 1953 you were born with Saturn in Libra and are currently experiencing your first or second Saturn Return.
This is a very special Saturn Return for those with Saturn in Libra as it is igniting the Cardinal Cross Climax that I have written of in previous Astro-Grams. The Cardinal Cross is emphasizing a time of both great and necessary change, making this Saturn Return even more powerful than usual.
When Saturn returns to its natal position in your chart you will undergo one of the most intense maturation periods of your life. In general, Saturn Returns are precursors to strong and sometimes painful yearnings for change. During this period of time you will be divinely guided to relinquish anything in your life that does not support your future life goals and purpose. You may find yourself feeling compelled to prioritize your objectives and activities so you can make the best use of your abilities for the next 29.5 years.
This can be a very stressful and trying time because the security of the past is familiar and safe, whereas the future is still unformed and therefore uncertain. Among many things, Saturn represents karma, responsibility and accountability. This will be a critical time requiring you to act with extreme integrity.
The Saturn Return brings about endings and new beginnings. The universe will unveil unhealthy and incongruent living and working conditions that can no longer be tolerated. This recognition can bring about enormous change, which may at times feel completely out of your control.
If you resist your personal nature and desires during your Saturn Return, the next 29.5 years could bring much suffering. If you willingly embrace Saturn’s courageous force, the transformation you make during this period can bring long term stability and future security.
