Superstition & the Mystical Harvest Full Moon

Superstition & the Mystical Harvest Full Moon

21°05′ Pisces

This month’s Full Moon is a Harvest Moon, which is the Full Moon occurring closest to the Fall Equinox (Monday, September 23), the end of summer and the beginning of fall. It takes place in the mystical sign of Pisces on the superstitious day that we all know as Friday the 13th.

Thirteen happens to be the number of lunar cycles and twelve the number of solar months that occur annually. Solar vibrations represent creation and lunar vibrations receptivity: Each is energetically important. You can search the internet and find a plethora of positive mystical meaning surrounding Fridays — the day given to the love Goddess Venus —  as well as the number 13, which many ancient cultures believed held mystical meaning. You can also find plenty of information regarding our current fear-based superstition of Friday the 13th.

In his book Becoming Supernatural, Dr. Joe Dispenza points out that “The only way we can change our lives is to change our energy — to change the electromagnetic field we are constantly broadcasting. In other words, to change our state of being, we have to change how we think and how we feel.” What do you choose to think and feel or align your precious energy with?

Astrologically, the light of a Full Moon illuminates the area of our life symbolized by the zodiac sign in which it falls. Full Moons always occur when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun. The Sun will be in Virgo during this Full Moon and will, therefore, emphasize the Pisces–Virgo themes of healing. Both these signs are sensitive to environmental pollutants and toxins.

The good news is that the awareness of any sensitivities can encourage purification and ultimately the integration of body-mind-spirit. Both Pisces and Virgo are mutable signs, which are flexible and adaptable to change. Take advantage of this powerful restorative Full Moon and create healthy new routines that allow you to connect to divine and create improved ways of living.

Pisces is the mystical sign that represents union — the unending quest of humankind to merge with divine. The eternal Piscean search for union (whether conscious or not) can permeate your dreaming and waking reality. From this vantage point, the Full Moon in Pisces is highlighting the balance between self and other, offering an important reminder that our ultimate relationship is the integration or union with the divinity that exists deep within us. The veils between the Earth and spirit realms are thinner when Pisces is emphasized in the heavens, so you can expect your daily activities to feel dreamier and more surreal than usual over the next couple of days.

Replace fear-based thinking with love-based thinking. Every time you’re making a choice, ask yourself if it’s going to cultivate the experience of unity and love or the experience of separation and stress.  — Deepak Chopra

Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac and represents the culmination of a cycle — endings in one or more areas of life, or simply letting go of habitual patterns that no longer serve your highest wellbeing. During this paramount time on our planet, many of us are experiencing ongoing changes that require relinquishing comforts associated with old ways of being. Even the most difficult culminations will serve your highest good as they simultaneously prevent unnecessary crises and suffering that result when necessary changes are resisted. Therefore, embrace and honor the wisdom of fluidity that this potent Full Moon is granting and dream new and exciting visions into your future.

Pisces Full Moon Key Words: Flexibility, Dreamtime, Intuition, Suffering, Healing or Healing Crises (of body-mind-spirit), Culmination, Union with Divine.

Heart Consciousness & the Leo New Moon

Heart Consciousness & the Leo New Moon

Wednesday, July 31, 2019
8:10 p.m. pacific time
7°15′ Leo

This month’s New Moon falls in the royal sign of Leo. A New Moon occurs at the beginning of every 28-day lunar cycle when the Moon joins the Sun in one of the twelve zodiacal signs. As the start of a new cycle, the New Moon is always a symbolic time to evaluate your goals and set new intentions in the areas of your life associated with the zodiacal sign in which the New Moon is occurring.

The fiery sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun and represented by the proud and powerful lion. The Sun’s illuminating rays bestow life; sacred wisdom through spiritual practice; and the ability to creatively actualize ourselves. A symbol of divine knowledge in many cultures, the lion is recognized from Europe to Africa as the power of the Shakti– divine energy. Hindus, for example, believe that the Man-Lion, Vishnu has both the sovereignty and power of dharma (law) to destroy evil and ignorance.

The zodiacal sign of Leo is the sign that encourages creative self-expression and heart consciousness. The fire of the leonine Sun ignites passion, inspiration, and the ability to single-mindedly focus on one’s goals. Leo also represents children and romance, marking a time to evaluate whether you are nurturing your inner child, and creating romantic moments of honoring and loving the self.

As the heart is ruled by Leo it is important during this New Moon to set intentions that honor your heart’s desires. This is important for all of us, but especially important for Leos, who can develop physical heart ailments when they do not follow their hearts. The essence of your creative light and the ability to love yourself and others exists within the center of your heart. Find the center of your heart during this New Moon and honor your unique and special gifts. This Leo New Moon is reminding us of the many spiritual teachings emphasizing the need to move away from fear and into loving relationship with self, others, and our planet.

Leo New Moon Key Words: Solar Light, Creative Actualization, Playfulness and the Inner Child, Heart Consciousness and Self Love.

Destiny & the Solar Eclipse

Destiny & the Solar Eclipse

New Moon Total Solar Eclipse
Tuesday, July 2, 12:16 PT
10°37′ Cancer

July marks the second Eclipse season of 2019 (the first occurred in January). Eclipses always come in pairs and this month’s duo begins with a Total Solar Eclipse on July 2 in the sign of Cancer, followed by a Partial Lunar Eclipse on July 16 in Capricorn.

Astronomically, Eclipses occur when the Moon travels between the Sun and Earth (Solar) or when the Earth lines up between the Sun and Moon (Lunar) and cast a shadow. Astrologically, Eclipses are considered potent celestial events that can initiate revelations and bring new conscious awareness to matters previously hidden. Premonitions and omens that occur during an Eclipse can precipitate important transformation in your life — or liberating change that is meant to aid you in your individual and collective destiny.

Self-image, inner or outer security, and domestic priorities become important under a Cancer Eclipse. You may find yourself experiencing intense emotions, especially if your feelings were previously denied or repressed. New and important experiences or people can suddenly come into your life, and simultaneously, others may be removed. Changes are prevalent and purposeful during Eclipses, so do your best to remain flexible and try not to judge anything during this period as good or bad.

The Sun symbolizes creativity, wisdom, strength, and outward expression — the Sun’s life-infusing energy gives us the confidence to plan for our future. During a Solar Eclipse we can find ourselves searching for our own light, especially if the shadows of the mind and ego have created darkness. Fortunately, if this veiling does occur it is only temporary, because we are spiritual beings destined to awaken to our inner light.

Because Eclipses can be harbingers of great transformation and change, they often coincide with unexpected Earth events, stock market fluctuations, and political upheaval. Although neither of the July Eclipses are visible in the United States, both are making powerful astrological aspects to the U.S. chart’s Mercury (the planet representing communications) at 24° Cancer in the 8th house of secrets, taboos, and combined resources. Mercury is also turning retrograde on July 7. These poignant aspects are foreshadowing further exposure of fake news, corruption, decay, and continued breakdown within the sociopolitical institutions of the U.S.

The ancient sages felt that Eclipses were a time for meditation and learning; a special time to honor the spiritual aspects of life. Try to keep your schedule light, remain internally focused, eat only pure foods, and do not consume alcohol. The veil between the Earth and other realms is thinner during an Eclipse, allowing you to more easily connect to the cosmic energies of universal wisdom.

The Buddha Full Moon

The Buddha Full Moon

Saturday, May 18, 2019
2:11 p.m. pacific time
27°39′ minutes of Scorpio

Everything is changeable, everything appears and disappears; there is no blissful peace until one passes beyond the agony of impermanence. ~ Buddha

This month’s Full Moon is considered spiritually auspicious as people all over the world celebrate Buddha’s enlightenment. It was while the Moon was in her full phase in Scorpio that Buddha sat under the Bodhi tree over 2,500 years ago and obtained Nirvana. The sign of the Scorpion encourages each of us to embrace the mysteries of death and rebirth and the overall impermanence of human life. As in Buddha’s journey — cycles of darkness will eventually awaken us to the wisdom of enlightenment.

The Moon moves into Scorpio at 2:26 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, May 16, and enters into its exact Full Moon phase on Saturday, May 18. Besides the earthly cycles of life and death, the Scorpio Full Moon highlights personal power dynamics, possessions, other people’s money, sexuality, and a need for deep internal transformations.

As a water sign, Scorpio represents our emotional realm and most specifically, our deep subconscious — which is also referred to as the “underworld” by native shamans. This lunation cycle has the potential to suddenly illuminate hidden agendas and encourage long overdue transformation. If you desire change, you will want to embrace this powerful Full Moon to transmute and transform your life.

Scorpio is feminine in nature and symbolizes the spiritual essence of the divine shakti — energy and power — which is recognized as the many faces of the divine feminine. In the Hindu tradition the divine shakti is known as the divine mother, the universal creator, destroyer of evil, and sustainer of all life. Her many faces are acknowledged as Kali and Durga, as well as the supreme female companion of Lord Shiva — Parvati. The divine union of Shiva and Parvati is symbolic of the powerful spiritual merger of equality between the sacred feminine and the sacred masculine.

The Full Moon in Scorpio only occurs once a year when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun, which will reflect the solar energies of the zodiac-sign Taurus, back to us here on Earth. Taurus is  the sign associated with inner security, values, and self-love — all important themes to consider during this lunation.

If you’ve been stuck in a defeating karmic cycle, you will want to draw upon the transformational energy of Scorpio. Spend time in meditation, ceremony, or ritual and intend to awaken to the metamorphosis of your human and spiritual journey.

Scorpio Full Moon Key Words: Transformation, Secrets, Illumination, Power Dynamics, Sexuality, Possessions, Impermanence (Death & Rebirth).

2019 marks the occurrence of five Eclipses in one year: two lunar and three solar.

A Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon travels between the Sun and the Earth and Lunar Eclipses occur when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon. Lunar Eclipses occur during a Full Moon about two weeks before or after a Solar Eclipse (New Moon).

Eclipses are potent celestial events because they imbue our psyches with the essence and spirit of “a great mystery.” Humankind has long been captivated by Eclipses and their cosmic potential of revelatory happenings. Eclipses provide us with an opportunity to uncover areas of our life that were previously hidden and need our attention.

During an Eclipse the Sun and the Moon align with the nodes of the Moon, which astrologers often characterize as “Points of Destiny,” and therefore correlating the nodes with both our individual and collective growth. Solar Eclipses, in particular, provide opportunities for transformation — the ending of an old cycle and the beginning of a new one. At an Eclipse, you can initiate a profound period of regeneration by aligning with your destiny and embracing any necessary changes that arise.

The darkening that occurs during an Eclipse has symbolically and historically been linked to the unveiling of something deeply hidden, an ominous secret, or the potential revelation of a great mystery

Because Eclipses can be harbingers of great transformation and change they often coincide with unexpected earth events, stock market fluctuations, and political upheavals. On a personal note, emotions can become intense if they’ve been denied or repressed. New and important experiences or people can suddenly come into your life, and simultaneously, others may be removed. In general, changes are prevalent during Eclipses, so try to remain flexible and try not to judge anything that occurs as good or bad.

The ancient sages felt that the days just before and after Eclipses were a time for meditation and learning; a special time to honor the spiritual aspects of your life. Try to keep your schedule light, remain internally focused, eat only pure foods, and do not consume alcohol. The veil between Earth and the heavens is thinner during an Eclipse, allowing you to more easily connect to the eternal universal wisdom that is your divine essence.

The Saturn Return: A Planetary Time Indicator of Change

The Saturn Return: A Planetary Time Indicator of Change

Dec. 19, 2017 – Dec. 16, 2020

The planet Saturn begins its journey through your Astrological horoscope at the moment of your birth. Its complete cycle through the zodiac and the 12 houses of your Astrological chart takes roughly 29 years. The Saturn Return occurs when Saturn passes through the sign it was in at the time of your birth and will be in effect for approximately two-and-a-half years. You will experience the Saturn Return twice in your life, typically around age 28-30 and again at 56-59. If you were born during 1988 – 1991 or 1959 – 1961 you were born with Saturn in Capricorn and are currently experiencing your first or second Saturn Return.

When Saturn returns to its natal position in your chart you will undergo one of the most intense maturation periods of your life. In general, Saturn Returns are precursors to strong and sometimes painful yearnings for change. During this period you will be divinely guided to relinquish anything in your life that does not support your future life goals and purpose. You may find yourself feeling compelled to prioritize your objectives and activities so you can make the best use of your abilities for the next 29.5 years.

This can be a very stressful and trying time because the security of the past is familiar and safe, whereas the future is still unformed and therefore uncertain. Among many things, Saturn represents karma, responsibility and accountability. This will be a critical time requiring you to act with extreme integrity.

The Saturn Return brings about endings and new beginnings. The universe will unveil unhealthy and incongruent living and working conditions that can no longer be tolerated. This recognition can bring about enormous change, which may at times feel completely out of your control.

If you resist your personal nature and desires during your Saturn Return, the next 29.5 years could bring much suffering. If you willingly embrace Saturn’s courageous force then the transformation you make during this period can bring long term stability and future security.
