Love may be all around us, but it won’t matter unless we can receive it.
— Marisa Franco Ph.D.

This month’s Full Moon occurs in the Venus–ruled sign that represents harmonious loving relationships and the equalizing scales of balance — Libra. Astrologically, the Moon is considered the luminary that lights up our unconscious, bringing attention to those dynamics that are connected to the zodiac sign that it’s passing through.

A Full Moon always occurs when it opposes the path of the Sun on the zodiac ecliptic. This month, the Sun falls in the desire-oriented sign of Aries. The opposing energies of this Full-Moon Lunation is highlighting the need for integration between the Sun in Aries (self) and the Moon in Libra (others).

The Libra archetype is associated with maintaining balance within relationships through giving and receiving. Are we able to give and receive love? Do we feel we give more than we receive? Are we able to know when not to give, thereby allowing others to independently determine their own needs — Aries.

The Sun in Aries denotes freedom, independence, and action. During this Full Moon, both the Sun and Moon are in aspect with Chiron and Jupiter, also in the sign of Aries. These planetary combinations instill the qualities of healing (Chiron) any imbalances associated with our individual autonomy (Aries). It also speaks to our desire to seek the truth (Jupiter). Since Full Moons represent balance and integration, it’s equally important that we recognize and honor these needs in others.

Libra is the sign of beauty, grace, and diplomacy. Ruled by Aphrodite’s planet, Venus, Libra thrives in healthy, balanced, and loving relationships. Therefore, this Full Moon is supporting the unveiling, understanding, and healing of any potential relationship imbalances: giving/receiving, equality/inequality, independence/dependence, harmony/conflict, truth/untruth, love/hate.

Lastly, from a health perspective Libra is the sign associated with the kidneys and blood-sugar balances. Therefore, this is a great Full Moon to commit to consuming less sugar, foods high in carbohydrates, and alcohol. Look for healthy alternatives that support your overall wellbeing.

Aphrodite’s Planet Venus Turns Retrograde

Aphrodite’s Planet Venus Turns Retrograde

Venus Retrograde 2017
March 4 to April 15

Your task is not to seek for love but merely to seek and find all the barriers
within yourself that you have built against it. ~Rumi

Venus is the only planet (besides the Sun and Moon) that does not turn retrograde several times a year. Instead, Venus turns retrograde only once every 548 (or so) days and will be transiting somewhere in your Astrological horoscope. This marks a significant period because it will correlate to a period of time during which you will be inclined to reexamine and reflect on your values, the way you love, and your overall nature of reality.

Relationships, commitments, and finances will likely be on your radar screen now. During the Venus retrograde period you will find yourself reassessing matters of the heart and how you are managing your resources. The intention of this cycle is for you to become aware of dynamics and circumstances that are no longer needed for your desired future. Anything that is counterproductive to your higher purpose or heartfelt destiny should become clear during this period encouraging you to take action when Venus turns direct on April 15.

Current intimate relationships may find one or both partners questioning how they feel about the relationship and wondering if their love or commitment is authentic. Because this cycle in the sign of Aries you will feel called to initiate new and more genuine ways of being in relationship.

On April 2 through April 27 Venus will travel back into the sign of Pisces where she will join the centaur Chiron and square Saturn. This period will provide an opportunity to evaluate and reflect (Saturn) on what may need healing (Chiron) in your life. Contemplate if self-worth, forgiveness, fear of intimacy, etc., need your attention and healing, so you can initiate the possibility of deeper intimacy within your partnerships once Venus moves back into the sign of Aries on April 28.

It is also worth noting that Mercury will turn retrograde on April 9in the other sign of love – Taurus. Ultimately, Taurus represents self-love. As you may know, retrograding planets provide a suitable time for introspection on where we’ve been and where we are going. Mercury retrogrades can create periods of deep thought in the area signified by the sign that it is retrograding. With Mercury retrograde in the sign of Taurus we have a twofold opportunity to revisit and contemplate how we love others and how we love ourselves.

Venus retrograde periods can bring past lovers into your life and/or a new love that you are karmically destined to be with. This is an important time to be clear in all your communications regarding commitments and financial decisions. Those of you with Aries or Pisces planets in your horoscopes are sure to feel the effects of Aphrodite’s planet the most during this period. However, we can each expect to find ourselves reflecting on the overall nature of our reality. What is working and not working? What is needed or not needed? Where to commit, recommit, or make necessary changes in personal, social, and business relationships? Lastly, are you communicating your needs and values within your important relationships?

Pre-shadow period begins on January 30 (26° Pisces)
Retrograde begins on March 2 (13° Aries)
Turns direct on April 15 (26° Pisces)
Post-shadow period from May 18 (13° Aries)

Setting Intentions Based on the New Moon

March 4, 2011 – 12:45 p.m. PT
13 degrees and 55 minutes of Pisces

The New Moon is a time of new beginnings and rebirth. It is an opportune time to set intentions for new life directions or the beginning of new projects.  This is the best time of the month to plant positive thoughts in the subconscious mind with affirmations, auspicious chants, and visualizations. Inspiration, hope, and support flourish during these next couple of days for those seeking spiritual, emotional, or mental liberation of any kind.

This is likely to be a particularly enlightening New Moon because it occurs in the intuitive sign of Pisces and falls in the ninth house which represents wisdom in the lunation horoscope.  Accompanied by five other heavenly bodies all traversing the sign of Pisces – Chiron, Mars, the Sun, Mercury, and Uranus – it creates a potent pack because of its emphasis of Pisces energy until Mercury and Uranus move into Aries around March 10.

As you may recall from my last Astro-gram, and Chiron in Pisces article, Pisces is the watery sign that seeks to dissolve all separating desires in order to unite with divine. It is through the artistic and soulful expression of Piscean energies that we can each experience the true essence of the all-pervading consciousness that exists within everything. Importantly, Pisces is also the last sign of the zodiac and therefore represents culminations.

Under this important New Moon, it is beneficial to take the time out of your busy schedule to ask yourself a couple of essential questions: 1) What is separating me from my truest expression of my divine self?  2) What might I need to culminate in my life so I can align to my higher nature?

Once you’ve answered these questions, take time to create intentions that will lead you into a closer relationship with your highest goals. Lastly, Pisces is one of two healing constellations of the zodiac (Virgo is the other.)  Healing is an important consideration when planets are highlighting one or both of these zodiac signs. This New Moon in Pisces can help illuminate any healing work that might need to occur in order for you to connect to your heart’s truest desires. Pisces also represents the dreamtime. Therefore, pay close attention to your dreams and any messages they may try to provide to you over the next couple of days.
