29°36′ Aquarius
Please God, please — don’t let me be normal. — Sigourney Weaver
This month’s Full-Moon lunation is a rare “once in a Blue-Moon” event. It’s deemed a “Blue Moon” because last month’s Full Moon also occurred in the sign of Aquarius. In addition, this Full Moon is taking place at the energetically potent 29° — a degree that is super-charged with possibility. What’s more, the Moon is closely aligned with the planet Jupiter, also in Aquarius. Astrologically, Jupiter is associated with our belief systems and philosophies and it tends to increase and expand whatever it comes in contact with — think quantum leap! We’ll come back to this later.
During a Full Moon, the energized light of the Sun is reflected by the Moon back to Earth. You may recall from the July Full Moon article that a Full Moon in Aquarius is reflecting the rays of the Sun in Leo. However, this lunation (unlike the last), is also strongly influenced by the fixed-star Regulus (0° Virgo), of which the Sun (29° Leo) is making an almost exact conjunction. Therefore, this Full Blue Moon conjunct Jupiter will be reflecting the essence of both the Sun and Regulus.
Considered one of the great “royal” stars, Regulus is mythologically associated with a prosperous Persian king who lost everything because he partook in vengeance. Hence, Regulus signifies great potential for success, as long as compassion and forgiveness (the heart) are embraced over the need for revenge (the ego).
This is important because the Sun in Leo represents matters of the heart and Regulus in Virgo signifies healing and integration of our body, mind, and spirit. It’s emphasizing the continual theme of “more love, compassion, and forgiveness” in order to holistically heal, retrieve, and assimilate any fragmented parts of ourselves.
Individually and collectively, humanity has (for some time now) been called to take a quantum leap. We may be physical beings but we are most importantly spiritual beings and therefore, powerful at our core. Ancient cultures understood our spiritual power — a power that scientists have only recently discovered. This power resides at the center of the heart–brain connection, which is exemplified by the Leo–Aquarius axis. Simply put, the heart is capable of informing the brain to create our reality. However, we also need to use our ability to consciously create our thoughts so we will align with our heart’s infinite wisdom. This will allow us to tap into our higher-self and the cosmic-mind (matrix) to create renewed experiences of revitalization and regeneration in our lives and others’.
Following is a quote by Henry David Thoreau who aptly wrote of his personal experience with this concept:
I have learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of their dream, endeavoring to live the life they are imagining, one passes an invisible boundary. All sorts of things begin to occur that never otherwise would have occurred. One begins to meet with success, unexpected in common hour thinking. New more Universal, more liberal Laws begin to establish themselves around this person, or the old Laws are rearranged in one’s favor; nevertheless, one begins to live with a license of a higher order of being.
Are you tapping into your hearts desire and informing your brain by using the power of your thoughts to create? If yes, great! If not, take a quantum leap under the Aquarian Full Blue Moon to begin doing so. Contemplate your belief systems (Jupiter), question whether or not your beliefs are sabotaging you. Commit to honoring your heart with love-of-self (Leo) and love-of-others (Aquarius).
Remember, this lunation is occurring at 29° and is, therefore, compelling you to break free from the old ways of being and to embrace the new. Aquarians abhor being “normal” — so take a risk under this Aquarian Full Moon and do something out-of-character and unexpected that will support your quantum leap and have a lot of fun (Leo) doing so!
If no one ever took risks, Michelangelo would have

I looked in temples, churches, and mosques.
But I found the Divine within my heart. — Rumi, 13th-Century Poet
This month’s New Moon occurs on Sunday1 in the fiery sign of Leo and both (Leo and Sunday) are ruled by the Sun! From a numerology perspective, August 8 (8-8) is significant because 8 is the symbol for infinity, power, and strength. This is important when pondering a powerful Moon–Sun event such as this one, because the Sun’s illuminating rays bestow life; sacred wisdom through spiritual practice; and the ability to creatively actualize ourselves, both physically and spiritually.
Leo is represented by the proud and powerful lion. A symbol of divine knowledge in many cultures, the lion is recognized from Europe to Africa as the power of the Shakti — divine energy. Hindus, for example, believe that the Man–Lion, Vishnu, has both the sovereignty and power of dharma (natural law) to destroy evil and ignorance.
When balanced and healthy, the lion is a strong leader, courageous, regal, and proud. Leo inspires creative self–expression and the fire of the leonine Sun ignites passion, motivation, and single-minded focus on one’s goals. Leo’s are gregarious, generous, and enjoy children and playfulness. The warmth of the Leo Sun inspires intimate–romantic moments, as well as honoring and loving our own special uniqueness.
The below excerpt was taken from Matt Kahn’s book Whatever arises LOVE that: A Love Revolution That Begins with You, p. 1, opening paragraph:
A NEW SPIRITUALITY has dawned: one that acknowledges your
energetic sensitivity … This is a heart-centered journey … With
every step forward … you leap to the forefront of human evolu-
tion by understanding that in a Universe of endless questions,
love is the only answer.
You may recall from my New Moon in July article that the fixed star, Sirius, made an exact conjunction with the Sun on July 5. Sirius’s continued heliacal rising with the Sun during July and August is associated with the entire Dog-Days-of-Summer cycle, which occurs several days before and after Sirius and our Sun make their exact conjunction. Believed to have the ability to make the mundane sacred, Sirius is often described as our Spiritual Sun. Astrologically, our Solar Sun’s rulership in Leo is associated with the heart. For eons, this annual celestial union has been revered for its heavenly combustion of energy and its ability to heighten Sirius’s transmission of highly-charged divine energy into our Solar system.
Lastly, Uranus is in aspect to this Leo New Moon, creating an opportune time to “think outside the box” and create change in our lives. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines thinking out of the box as follows: to explore ideas that are creative and unusual and that are not limited or controlled by rules or tradition. Well, that certainly sums up the Leo New Moon–Uranus aspect nicely. Therefore, be sure and set intentions and goals to actualize some/or all of those ideas you come up with.
Since the heart is associated with Leo, it is important during this New Moon to set intentions for change that deeply connect with your heart’s desires. This is important for all of us, but especially important for Leos, who can actually develop physical heart ailments when they ignore the sacred promptings of their inner heart. The essence of your creative light and the ability to love yourself and others exists within the center of your heart. Tap into your heart-center during this New Moon and honor your unique and special gifts.

You may believe that you are responsible for what you do,
but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what
you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice.

Aquarius is the celestial sign that bestows the universal cosmic waters onto humankind. Although Aquarius is an air sign, it was referred to by the early Greeks as The Water Bearer. This connection through the healing element of water symbolizes Aquarius’s cosmic ambrosia (amrita in Sanskrit), the drink of immortality and the divine substance that gives, nourishes, and restores life. Aquarians, in general, are altruistic, individualists, eccentric, and freedom oriented. As an air sign, they are interested in ideas and thoughts (think cosmic–mind) and are the brilliant innovators of the zodiac.
The reflection of the Aquarian Full Moon occurs through the Sun in Leo. The illuminating Leo–Aquarian beams-of-light will inspire you to distinguish between the desires of your ego versus the desires of your heart (Leo). Among many qualities, Aquarius represents our hopes and wishes, and yearns for the manifestation of a better world. The sign of the courageous-regal lion embodies leadership and passion. Leo encourages creative actualization in all its divine expression. Both are ultimately seeking higher forms of love.
This year and next, the Aquarian Full Moon will conjunct Saturn in Aquarius. Saturn is currently in aspect to Uranus — the ruling planet of Aquarius. Saturn’s highest expression symbolizes morals, responsibility, accountability, integrity, justice, and the ongoing need to restructure that which is obsolete. Uranus symbolizes liberation and the dismantling of obstacles that stand in the way of radical change. Combined, these two planets (Saturn and Uranus) are a powerful catalyst for transformative growth: Use Saturn’s determination to focus your mind and create Uranian change in your life.
Go outside under the Full Moon’s illuminating rays and celebrate your individuality! Set new intentions to aspire to recognize your unique gifts, new radical ways of thinking with your cosmic-mind, and to having new experiences that bring awakening and revitalization to your life.

Venus and Mars Reunite
19°48′ Leo
Tuesday, July 13 at 6:14 a.m.
The last conjunction between Venus and Mars occurred on August 24, 2019
(almost 2 years ago) and the next will occur on February 16, 2022 (only 7 months from now).
Venus–Mars conjunctions are powerful events and this one is occurring in the royal fire sign of Leo. Let’s explore some of the Venus and Mars astrological qualities and their mythology before delving into the conjunction and what it means.
Astronomically, one cannot speak of Venus without paying homage to her luminosity as she would definitely win the planetary night lightshow for her brilliance. When in her evening phase, she is the most visible planetary-star in our solar system and 25 times brighter than the brightest fixed-star, Sirius.
Astrologically, Aphrodite’s planet of love (Venus) represents the need for balance between our love of self and our love of others. Venus bestows love, harmony, physical beauty, the fine arts, social dynamics, and wealth into the world. Essentially, her ultimate wish is to just be adored.
It is Venus that informs us of what and who we like and dislike (what we are attracted to or repulsed by), how hard we are willing to work for what we want, our esthetic inclinations, etc. From Aphrodite’s perspective, life is all about attracting to herself (in abundance) all the loveliness that the world has to offer. She’s not so materialistic as she is desiring of being surrounded by beautiful things.
The red planet, Mars, represents the Warrior. Hence, the God of War strives to protect with courage, bravery, and fearlessness. When at its best, Mars operates from a raw impulsive instinct that is loyal and protective. Because Mars thrives on adventure and action it also highlights ardent romance. As much as Mars enjoys the conquest it also enjoys the adventure of love, and therefore, is often restless in love.
Mars thrives while initiating brand new cycles of adventure and self-discovery but can become easily enraged when its freedom-loving nature and unfulfilled desires or passions are thwarted. Mars is fiery! Ever youthful and often immature, Mars can be irresponsible.
Leo is the royal fire sign that is linked to the heart. Leo loves romance and can be the true romantic of the zodiac. It’s important to note that Classical Astrology associates Leo with romantic liaisons rather than long-term partnership. That said, Leo can definitely create the spark that is needed to generate an enduring committed relationship.
The fire of the lion ignites passion, drama, inspiration, and the ability to single-mindedly focus on one’s goals. This is the sign that encourages creative self-expression and heart consciousness — cultivation of love for oneself. Leo also represents children and our inner child, playfulness, joy, etc.
Venus and Mars’s mythological relationship depicts a sacred and forbidden love. Venus was married, but also secretly in love with Mars, of who she has a romantic affair with. After Venus and Mars’s lovemaking, Venus watches over him as he falls into a deep erotic sleep. Even as the mischievous elves try to awaken him with his own weapons he remains oblivious and unprotected.

Because of Venus’s feminine love, she has the ability to absorb Mars’s more assertive and vital masculinity. Hence, the mythological union between the feminine (Venus) and the masculine (Mars) is one of inner balance — one cannot not exist without the other. Is there a safe place for your inner Mars to unite with your inner Venus?
Now that we’ve covered some basic qualities of Venus, Mars, and Leo, as well as the mythology involving the “cosmic-lovers” we can better deduce the meaning of this month’s Venus–Mars conjunction. Mars likes adventure and conquest and Venus wants beauty and union. Are your cosmic-lovers in harmony with each other?
Since all conjunctions are new cycles of beginning, we can ask ourselves if there is something in our life that needs to end so we can begin anew. If not, great! Focus on creatively actualizing more love of self and others. Set new goals of adventure, discovery, and most of all, fun! If you would like to begin a new partnership or you wish to transform a current one, use this period to instill new motivation and heightened inspiration for your desires.
Along with the New Moon in Cancer on July 9, the Venus–Mars conjunction is a great opportunity to super-charge any intentions you began at that time, especially in the realm of relationship.
Venus–Mars Key Words: passion, desire, love, adventure, self-discovery, creative actualization, inspiration, motivation, playfulness–inner child, heart consciousness, self love, feminine-masculine balance, romance
The Night Sky: Astronomically, these two planets will appear closely together from June 27 to July 21. Mark your calendar for July 12 & 13, as the sliver of the Crescent Moon combined with the Venus–Mars conjunction are sure to prove a stunning trio.

18°01′ Cancer
June’s “ring of fire” eclipse and Mercury’s retrograde shenanigans sure did give us a good dose of galactic energy. Hopefully, you were able to navigate these celestial currents and are ready for this month’s cosmic journey, which includes the fixed-star Sirius’s conjunction to our Sun (July 5), the New Moon in Cancer (July 9), and the conjunction between the cosmic-lovers, Venus and Mars (July 13).
The watery sign of the crab (Cancer) is ruled by the Moon herself and is associated with security, family, and our need for balance between our inner versus outer world. The Sun’s movement into Cancer (the Summer Solstice) marks the first days of summertime in the Northern Hemisphere, initiating a desire for outdoor activities with family and friends, preferably near or in large bodies of water. Since the fiery Sun purifies and water cleanses, we can embrace these warm summer months as a time of purification for our emotional, mental, and physical bodies. Therefore, make it a point to welcome the healing rays of the Sun and immerse yourself in water whenever you can to wash away any stagnant or pent-up energy caused by working too much or by prolonged periods indoors.
It is during the Sun’s movement through the zodiac signs of Cancer and Leo that we experience the “Dog Days of Summer.” This term was coined because of the corresponding hot-sweltering days that the ancients observed when the brightest star in the heavens — Sirius — rose and set alongside our Sun. Sirius obtained its status of “Dog Star” because it happens to be the main star residing in the constellation of Alpha Canis Major. Also, Sirius is so large that it is considered twice the size of our Sun and 25 times its luminosity. 1 Following is a quote from a first century Astrologer–Poet regarding Sirius:
Hardly is it inferior to the Sun, save that its abode is far away
and the beams it launches from its sea-blue face are cold.
In splendour it surpasses all other constellations, and no
brighter star is bathed in ocean or returns to heaven
from the waves. — Marcus Manilius, first century CE2
For millennia, stars have been observed by our ancestors and regarded as having divine qualities. Native peoples deemed Sirius the “Great Star Nation” and considered it the home (Cancer) of our star brothers and sisters. Many believe that Sirius is the origin of our teachers from ancient times. Additionally, Sirius was considered to be the birthplace of “the gods” by the early Egyptians and is still considered so by the Dogon tribe in Africa.
The Sun will make its exact conjunction with Sirius (14°21′ Cancer) on July 5 at 9:43 p.m. pacific time.2 However, the entire Dog-Days-of-Summer cycle occurs several days before and after the exact conjunction. Believed to have the ability to make the mundane sacred, Sirius is often described as our Spiritual Sun. Astrologically, our Solar Sun rules the sign of Leo, which is associated with the heart. For eons, this annual celestial union between our Sun and Sirius has been revered for its heavenly combustion of energy and its ability to heighten Sirius’s transmission of highly-charged divine energy into our Solar system. Pay close attention to what is occurring in your life during this period and feel (Cancer) into your heart (Leo) and let this infusion of solar-spiritual energy awaken you to your divine potential.
Two things inspire me to awe — the starry heavens above
and the moral universe within. — Albert Einstein
Ruled by the Moon, Cancer cultivates maternal and nurturing instincts with an emphasis on emotions, home, family, heritage, and country. In general, the Moon governs large crowds, the public, women, liquids, ocean tides and bodies of water. Since Cancer is associated with the crab, it symbolizes Cancer’s hard-outer shell that is protective of both — self and others. Its sensitive interior is the nurturing, loving, and vulnerable aspects of Cancer.
Occurring annually, this year’s Cancer New Moon horoscope highlights the realm of contractual partnerships. Since New Moon’s are a great opportunity for initiating something new in our lives, you may want to contemplate your inner- versus outer-relationship status. Would you like to begin a new partnership? Or, if you are already in a committed partnership, you may want to do some self-inquiry around whether or not your needs are being met. Either way, if you are wanting a change, make a plan, set your intentions, and take the first step.
Last but not least! The sky is dark during a New Moon so the heavens will offer a perfect opportunity to view this month’s cosmic dance between the planetary lovers’ Venus and Mars. These two planets will join one another on July 13 in the west-northwest early evening sky. This conjunction is providing a fantastic opportunity to further strengthen and super-charge your intentions.
Key Cancer New Moon Themes: emotional security, early conditioning, family and domestic priorities, intuitive, nurturing, protective of others, moody (crabby), tenacious, enjoys the water

3. Each year this occurs at a different time due to the precession of the equinoxes, whereby the celestial poles move and all the fixed stars shift slightly from one year to the next, moving roughly 1° approximately every 72 years.
